It makes everything feel much more methodical than the run and gun shooters of old, though it's no less chaotic, particularly in the later stages. Other times rushing an enemy with a slower firing weapon is the way to go. You might want to hide beyond cover, slip into an open doorway or simply duck to avoid an incoming hail of bullets and bide your time before firing back. Rather than charging forward mindlessly, you will need to assess the environment around you and choose the best approach.

But although it serves as a love letter to 80s gaming and movie culture, the moment to moment action is a far more modern offering. Judging by the game's stylish retro-inspired aesthetic alone, you might assume that Huntdown is a run and gun shooter.

Huntdown takes place in a dystopian cyberpunk future, and you'll play as one of three bounty hunters who make a living from maintaining order on these deadly streets. But did you know that the game was initially designed with mobile in mind? Well, now it has returned to its original home and fortunately, very little has been lost in translation.

If you grew up playing the classic side-scrolling shooters from the 90s, HUNTDOWN is sure to scratch that retro game itch you might have. However, despite everything it offers, the gameplay can get a little repetitive after a while. You can even use enemy weapons against them in satisfying poetic justice. Some of them include katanas, laser weapons, and various explosives. Thankfully, HUNTDOWN you have access to an arsenal of weapons to help you in your crusade. Things can be very chaotic and can get out of hand quickly.
There are 20 neon-soaked levels to push through that are home to the four gangs and their respective bosses you'll face. Each one brings something unique and different to the gameplay, but all three will dish out plenty of chaos and destruction in their wake.
